"I've been vegan for three years, previously vegetarian for ten. It was a fairly easy transitiion for me, as veggies, fruits, legumes, nuts and seeds have always been my favorite foods. I overcame the challenges of becoming a vegan; like how to eat a well rounded, whole foods vegan diet on a budget, by doing research, meal planning and shopping at particular stores for certain deals. I find myself spending less on food today than when I ate meat and dairy, plus I feel a whole lot better, too!
Going vegan is one of the best things I've done for myself, it's good for eveything; people, animals and the environment so it's a no brainer for me, plus it has opened up my palate even more - vegan food is so delicious and satisfying, better for our health too! Some personal perks I have been enjoying since going vegan include having more energy, my cholesterol being in healthy levels again, and I have lost 40 lbs. as well. My advice for vegan or even plant-based interested - experiment with foods you already like. There is also a variety of nut milks, cheeses and meats - find one you enjoy. And don't feel like you have to go all in all at once. I'd start with a meatless Monday and take it from there. I'm certain you will enjoy what you eat and like how you feel so you will want to go vegan full time as well."
