oat milk

Have you ever made your own oat milk before? Well, neither had I until now. And it's quite easy! All you need is a blender and a milk bag for straining. This is especially great if you find yourself out of milk for your morning coffee or tea. Your fresh oat milk will last around five days refrigerated. Simply shake and enjoy.

ingredients:
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats

  • 4 cups water

  • 2 dates

  • 2 tsp vanilla

method:
  1. Place oats in a strainer and run under running cold water to rinse until the water runs clear. This removes the excess starch and will make your milk creamy and not slimy.

  2. Add oats to blender. Then add in the dates, vanilla, and pour in the water.

  3. Blend all ingredients for around one minute.

  4. Pour mixture into a milk bag over a bowl and squeeze out all milk.

  5. Pour your milk into a glass bottle and then chill.

tip:

You can always add in a pinch of salt, more or less vanilla to taste. No dates on hand? No problem. You can sweeten with a little maple syrup. Add in raw cacao for chocolate flavored milk.
