Wishing you all a very happy and healthy New Year. As I say goodbye to 2018 and hello to 2019, there is of course much to be thankful for. And I of course have started a new adventure with this website, Facebook page, Instagram, and getting my book out. Which is coming out I swear, it's just a lot of work! It is my goal and passion really to give you all of the tools to transistion to a happy and healthy vegan lifestyle. It is important to me to help spread awareness that adopting a vegan (also, a plant based diet) is easier than you think. Just starting out in October with the website and social media platforms, it has been a slow and steady progression and I am both optimistic and excited. My goal and commitment to you for the upcoming year is to give you as much information, value, and tools possible for a sustainable, healthy, and rewarding vegan transition. I know I keep saying this, but it really is easier than you think.
Are you down to making that commitment?
I think oftentimes what might hold some people back is simply that they just don't know how or where to start. It's understandle because it can be overwhelming. I totally get that. If you have been accustomed to eating a certain way for 20, 30, 40, or even 50 years, it is daunting. Gone is the "hippie-granola crunchy-tree hugger-kumbaya" stigma that vegans and vegetarians have gotten in the past. It's about living a life on purpose with compassion, and not buying into the agriculture bs that we have been raised on. We do not have to accept that this is the way things are, that it is tradition. We do not have to accept the violence, the health consequences, and the damage and harm that it is causing. Change begins with us, and we sure can make a difference in ourselves, and collectively to the world around us. And this is where I come in, and others too, to help and guide you along your way.
But what do you need to do first?
You need to make up your mind. Your mind needs to be made up that you can do this. And for whatever your reasoning is - for your health, for the animals, for the environment (I am all three!) - that you can be a healthy vegan. Don't buy in to the myth of not getting enough protein, you can get that from plants. Or, you won't get enough iron if you don't eat meat. Guess what, you can get that from plants, too. Have you heard of Veganuary?
Veganuary is a wonderful UK based group where you can sign up to receive the support that you need to going vegan. It is a world wide event where close to 300,000 new-comers are making that commitment to going vegan with the ring of the new year. There you can get a vegan starter kit, recipes, a guide for eating out and so much more. If you are interested in learning more with Veganuary, you can go here.
